FSW tools for Aluminium-silicon welding


The challenge :

In terms of strengh, silicon aluminium alloys contain silica, which is very abrasie for tools  and more particularly for the pawn.

This leads to very rapid wear after a few tens of meters of welding.

Light alloy castings can be made in contexts where mass gains are sought, suchas is the automotive sector. This process is used for the manufacture of engine blocks, exchangers, battery trays and alloy wheels. 

STIRWELD’s answer :

We have developped special tools for silicon aluminium welds, which can weld more than 400 meters on these types of aluminium. It represents a 300% improvement in standard quality.
